What is a “2-Minute Drill”? In football, the phrase “2-minute Drill” commonly refers to a specific change in the philosophy of an offense when their team is behind on the scoreboard and there is little time remaining in the half, or the game. The 2-Minute Drill can often be a fine balance between playing up-tempo to score quickly while also trying to be the last one to score so you do not give your opponent the chance to rebuttal.

Now how does that apply here?
Well, in terms of gaming, the opponent is usually… boredom. The 2-minute Drill series will be just that; a race against the clock, while not giving up a score to boredom. I will be playing the equivalent of a 2-minute Drill of my game of choice and then report back with whether or not it grabbed me and made me want to keep playing for longer.
Some simple math will help give us the length of our 2-minute Drill for any game.
2 minutes / 60 minutes (Clock Length of a Standard College Football Game) = 3.33% rounded up to 3.5%. I will play 3.5% of the game based off the time to beat listed on https://howlongtobeat.com/
In the case of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle that comes out to ((20.5 Hours * 60 mins) * .035) = (1230 mins * 0.035) = 43 Minutes
Indy…. you’re on the clock!
The results are in:
Absolute. Game. Winner!
The 43 minutes of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle that I played definitely shut the door on boredom and made me sad that my timer started going off. What a great opening to a game.
Starting deep in the Jungle with one of the most iconic Indy openings of evading the blow darts, swapping the sandbag for the Golden Idol, and outrunning the giant boulder made me feel like I was living the movie or the Universal Studios performance. Exploring the halls of Marshall College and fighting a giant, Latin-muttering, mummy-stealing bad guy all felt amazing, from the environment to the vibes to the acting. Combat is iffy (as most first-person brawler types are) but I love the ability to pick up weapons from the world and perform takedowns. My journey ended while I was infiltrating the Vatican under a beautiful night sky, scaling buildings, and knocking out fascists. Sneaking into rooms and collecting little pieces of lore and world-building flavor made it all extremely immersive.
All in all, this game definitely defeated boredom for me, and I can’t wait to continue my adventure!
